The Basti Process

  • The individual retains the oil or decoction for a specified period, usually 30-60 minutes.
  • The individual evacuates the oil or decoction, and the therapist performs a gentle massage to the abdominal region.

Contraindications

  • Basti is contraindicated during pregnancy.
  • Basti is contraindicated during menstruation.
  • Basti should not be performed during acute illness or fever.
  • Certain colon conditions, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, may be contraindicated for Basti.
